Janet's link to Sam Harris's exchange with Philip Ball reminded me of Harris's earlier article in Nature magazine, 2006
Instead of disparaging different religions (Islam at this time), I believe the UN or organizations such as the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions should pass a resolution that all schools or educational edifices that teach about a God or Creator must use a disclaimer that affirms that there is no empirical proof that their subject exists as fact. The aim is to prevent the certainty or brain washing that takes place in some minds of the listeners.
I wish we could do for the teaching of religion that Galileo did for the teaching of science.
