Change in speaker

I have some bad news and some good news.

Dr. Buckman was admitted to hospital a while ago, but apparently is stable now and not in any immediate danger. He will not, however, be able to speak and celebrate with us next Tuesday. We will be able to offer his book for sale and we are going ahead with another speaker in place of Dr. Buckman.

Dr Christopher diCarlo is on the Faculty of Social Science at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, and has given lectures on the importance of Charles Darwin and his contributions regarding evolution. Besides being a dynamic speaker in a similar tradition as Dr. Buckman, he is also an accomplished debater and recently challenged a leading fundamentalist churchman at Wilfred Laurier University, and by all accounts was the most convincing. Therefore he is eminently qualified to address the issue of morals existing outside the hegemony of the religious, and will deliver a lecture as powerful and convincing as one that would be given by the good doctor Buckman.

His presentation will also include some visual aids, and he will also be available afterward to partake of some refreshments and meet the audience.

I truly am sorry to change the event we had planned for you, but circumstances were beyond our control, and I am sure you will be impressed with Dr. diCarlo and his own approach.

The other details of the evening will remain the same, except that Cable TV have already had to re-slate another event, and will not be able to cover the event. The time, place and other details will remain the same.

Thanks for your patience,
Gerry Maloney
