I think we are all familiar with that element of Christianity which claims its version of the deity is infallible and has a perfect unchangeable plan.
Logically, (as if logic has any place in religion) that means we who disbelieve, disbelieve because that is god's plan. Unfortunately, most believers in this type of god seem to feel the need to evangelize. I guess that's god's plan too. He wants his followers to waste their time trying to convert us - efforts doomed to failure because we are not going to believe unless a changed mind is part of god's unchangeable plan.
It is not just this Christian god who actively does not want us to believe to. The Islamic deity - or Allah - also has deliberately arranged for us to disbelieve.
Turing to the Quran, surah 2:6-7 we find:
Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe.
Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment.
There it is - Allah has arranged for us not to believe. At least he has the decency to warn his followers that it is a waste of time to try and convert us.
I wonder why believers follow gods who are clinically insane? Part of the plan, I guess.
Have your say...
