Imagine a good life, a life in which we can look back and say it wasn’t the greatest life humanly possible and it wasn’t the worst life humanly possible, but it was a good life nonetheless, a life in which we can look back and honestly say we found happiness, not the fleeting exhilaration that comes from cheap thrills, meaningless possessions and illicit pharmaceuticals, but the deep, abiding satisfaction that grows from good experiences, a meaningful purpose and wonderful relationships.

Imagine a good life, a life that is not dependent on a million dollars, a life that is not dependent on a prestigious career, a life that is not contingent upon this religion or that religion, a life that is not contingent upon this political system or that political system, a life that does not hinge upon this degree or that degree, but a life that we build of our own volition, a life we build of our own determination.

Imagine a good life, it may not be easy, it may not come around today or tomorrow, it may take a year or two, possible even a decade or more, but it is possible, it is attainable, if we are willing to create it little by little, if we are willing to cultivate it year by year.

Imagine a good life, a life in which we can look back and say it wasn’t the best life possible and it wasn’t the worst life possible, but it was a good life nonetheless for it was a life we created for ourselves, crafted from our knowledge and our abilities, it was a life we created for ourselves, for our family and our friends.
