"I don't know about this doctrine of assassination, if he thinks we are trying to assassinate him, I think we really ought to go ahead and do it."
I note that Pat Robertson has apologized for his comments, but not without first trying to weasel out by claiming he was misinterpreted. He initially claimed he had not in fact been calling for assassination.
Even though the words above were clearly spoken by him personally before an audience of millions on national television, even though these words were retransmitted in numerous news broadcasts to reach a worldwide audience, Pat Robertson had the audacity to claim that a clear call for assassination was a misinterptetation.
I suggest that this attempt to disclaim responsibility for the clear intent of his words says even more about the man's lack of moral integrity than do the words themselves.
In my view, Pat Robertson lacks moral integrity.
